How to see Costs in Projects

Learn effective strategies for identifying and tracking costs in project management to ensure accurate budgeting and project success.

The Labor Costs feature allows project owners and admins to track the financial impact of employee contributions to their projects. It provides a detailed view of hourly costs and total project costs, giving teams a clear understanding of resource allocation and project profitability.

Key features of Labor Costs

1. Automatic cost calculation

  • Every time an employee logs hours on a project, their hourly cost is automatically calculated and added to the total project cost.
  • Costs are derived using the employee’s gross salary, adjusted for employer-related expenses (e.g., social security, taxes), and converted into an hourly rate.

2. Comprehensive cost tracking

  • Labor costs are integrated with expenses and fixed costs, offering a complete view of the total project cost.
  • Includes currency conversion for employees paid in different currencies, ensuring all costs are unified.

3. Multiple views for cost insights

  • Employee side panel: Displays the monthly labor cost for each employee, providing detailed cost insights.

  • Project side panel: Shows which employees have logged hours on a project and their associated costs.

Cost breakdown chart

The Cost Breakdown Chart provides a detailed visualization of project costs, broken down by category. This enhancement allows clients to track the evolution of their costs in greater detail, helping them understand how different cost sources contribute to the total project expenditure.

Key features of the Cost breakdown chart

1. Disaggregated cost visualization

  • See the evolution of project costs over time, separated by categories such as labor, fixed costs, and expenses.
  • Gain a clear understanding of which areas are driving project costs.

How it works

  1. Cost tracking: The chart pulls data from labor costs, fixed expenses, and additional project expenditures.
  2. Category breakdown: Costs are grouped into predefined categories for better analysis.
  3.  Real-time updates: The chart updates automatically as new costs are logged, providing up-to-date insights.
