Time tracking notifications help you stay updated on important events such as missed clock-ins, timesheet approvals, overtime requests, and more. These notifications are configured on a personal level, meaning each user can manage their own preferences—they are not set at a company-wide level.
You can choose to receive notifications via email or mobile (push notifications), depending on your role and permissions.
How to configure it
To enable or disable your time tracking notifications:
- Log into Factorial from the web version
- Go to the sidebar and scroll to the bottom
- Click on your name or profile picture to open your personal settings
- Select Notifications
- Find the section called Time Tracking.
- Review the list of available notifications. These may vary based on your role (e.g., manager, employee)
- Use the checkboxes to enable or disable each notification:
- Check the Email box to receive the notification via email
- Check the Mobile box to receive the notification via push notification on your mobile device
- Your changes are saved automatically

Types of Notifications Available
Not all users will see all notifications—availability depends on your role within the company.
Here are some of the notifications you might see (depends on your role):
- Automatic Break Setting Notification – Get notified when a new automatic break is added to your time tracking policy.
- Clock in Reminder – Receive a reminder when a manager sends a clock-in prompt.
- Employee Missed Clock-in – Be alerted when a direct report hasn't clocked in.
- Employee Not Able to Clock In/Log In – Know when someone fails to clock in or log in.
- Geolocation Notification – Get notified if someone clocks in from an unexpected location.
- Manager Incidence Notification – Weekly alerts about employee incidents.
- New/Edit Timesheet Request – Alerts when there are pending timesheet edit or overtime requests.
- Approval Flows – Stay updated on completed approval flows for timesheets or overtime.
- Potential Shift Tampering – Get notified if a shift appears to be manipulated.
- Payroll Compensation Errors – Be informed of payroll-related errors.
- Timesheet Dispatch/Review/Approval Notifications – Updates when timesheets are ready, approved, or sent for approval.
- Tolerance Incidence Notification – Alerts when you clock in late.
- File Export Notification – Notification when your file export is complete.
