Troubleshooting: Unable to Request Absences from the App

Sometimes employees may encounter issues when trying to request absences from the Factorial app. In this article, you will learn what to check and how to resolve the most common problems, whether you are an admin or an employee.

Table of Contents

Overview
The absence request feature allows employees to submit time-off requests directly from the app. Admins can manage and approve these requests. Ensuring proper configuration and permissions is essential for smooth operation.

Use this guide whenever an employee reports that they cannot request absences via the app. Following these steps helps identify whether the issue is related to permissions, absence policy configuration, or app settings.

Troubleshooting guide

  1. Check User Permissions
For employees: Ensure the employee has permission to request absences in their profile.
For admins: Verify that admin roles and approval settings allow the employee to submit requests.

  2. Verify Absence Policies
Confirm the employee is assigned to an active absence policy.
Make sure the policy includes the absence type the employee is trying to request.

  3. Check App Configuration
Ensure the app is updated to the latest version.
Verify that the employee is logged into the correct account.

  4. Review Pending Requests
If there are overlapping or pending requests, the app may prevent new submissions.
Resolve or cancel conflicting requests if necessary.

  5. Sync Data
Ask the employee to refresh or log out and log back into the app.
Make sure the app can connect to the internet to sync data.

As an admin, if an employee cannot see the option to request absences, check their permissions and ensure they are assigned to an active absence policy.

Tips and Best Practices:

  • Encourage employees to always update the app to the latest version.
  • Use clear absence policies with visible limits to avoid confusion.
  • Admins can periodically review permissions to prevent access issues.

Make sure to update the app and have the latest version of it.
