Edit, stop, reopen, duplicate, archive or delete a review

Once a performance review is launched, admins and owners can still change some settings, extend the deadline, stop it early, reopen it after it finished, copy it for a new cycle, archive it, or delete it. This article lists what each action does.

Before you start

  • You need to be an owner of the review or have Review Process Full Visibility. To duplicate, you need Create reviews.
  • Nothing can be changed while the review shows Launching.

What you can change after launch

Open the review and click Edit.

Step by step

Extend the deadline

  1. Open the active review and click Edit.
  2. Open Timeline and change the Deadline.
  3. Automatic reminders move to 7 days and 1 day before the new deadline.

 Stop a review early

  1. Open the active review.
  2. Click Stop review at the top right.
  3. Confirm in "Are you sure you want to stop this review". The message says "This is an irreversible action that will prevent further responses", but an admin or owner can still bring the review back with Reopen review.
  4. The review becomes Finished. Pending evaluations stay unanswered.

Reopen a finished review

  1. Open the finished review.
  2. Click Reopen review.
  3. Set a new end date ("Set a new end date for this review").
  4. Confirm. The review becomes Active again and reviewers can answer pending evaluations.

 Duplicate a review

  1. Go to Performance > Reviews.
  2. Open the actions menu (…) of the review and click Duplicate.
  3. Confirm in Duplicate a review. The copy is a new Draft with the same questions and settings, without owners or targets ("This action will create a duplicate of this review without the owners and review targets").
Duplicating and editing a review, step by step

Archive or unarchive a review

  1. Go to Performance > Reviews.
  2. Open the actions menu (…) and click Archive (or Unarchive).
  3. Archived reviews are hidden from the list. Use the Archived filter to Show archived reviews or Show only archived reviews.

Delete a review

  1. Go to Performance > Reviews.
  2. Open the actions menu (…) and click Delete.
  3. In "Are you sure you want to delete the review?", type the review name to confirm ("You're going to lose all the answers and insights inside").
  4. Click Delete.

Rules and behavior

  • If a review reaches its deadline, then it becomes Finished automatically, like clicking Stop review.
  • If you reopen a review, then its AI insights are invalidated and become unavailable until they are generated again, because new answers may be added.
  • If you delete a review, then all evaluations, answers, scores, insights and action plans in it are deleted permanently.
  • If you archive a review, then nothing is deleted and participants can still open it from links and tasks.
  • If you duplicate a review, then you become the owner of the copy.
  • If a review is Launching, then it can't be deleted or edited until it's Active.

Limitations

  • You can't undo a deletion.
  • You can't reopen a review without setting a new end date.
  • You can't change review types, questions or the score mode after launch, even by reopening.
  • You can't duplicate a review into another company.

Troubleshooting

  • Symptom: "I stopped a review by mistake." → Cause: Stop review finishes the review. → Fix: click Reopen review and set a new end date.
  • Symptom: "AI insights disappeared after reopening." → Cause: reopening invalidates insights. → Fix: they are generated again as evaluations are completed.
  • Symptom: "I can't find an old review." → Cause: it's archived. → Fix: use the Archived filter in Performance > Reviews.

FAQ

1. Is stopping a review permanent?
No. You can reopen a finished review with a new end date.

2. Does duplicating copy the answers?
No. Only the setup: questions, review types and settings.

3. Can I delete a review that has answers?
Yes, if you are an owner or have full visibility. All answers and insights are deleted.
