Creating a report manually gives you full control over the data displayed in your report. Instead of starting with Factorial One or a template, you can build your report from scratch by selecting the tables and columns you want to include.
Coming soon: Available in beta from August 2026. During the initial rollout, this feature is available to admins only.
Overview
Manual report creation lets you build a custom Analytics report by choosing exactly which data to display. This option is ideal when you need a report tailored to your specific reporting requirements.
This is one of three ways to create a report in the new Analytics experience.
When and why it should be used
Use manual report creation when you:
- Need a fully customised report
- Know exactly which data you want to analyse
- Want complete control over the tables and columns included in the report
How to use
- In your sidebar, go to Analytics
- Click +Create a report
- Select Manually
- Choose the data you want to include in your report
- Add, remove, or modify columns as needed
- Review the report
- It will display the tables and columns you selected

If the report does not show the data you expected, check the following:
- Verify that you've selected the correct data source
- Confirm that you've included all the required columns
- Review any filters applied to the report, as they may be limiting the displayed results
Tips and best practices
- Select only the data you need to keep your report clear and easy to interpret
- Review your column selection before saving the report to ensure all relevant information is included
- If you need a common HR report, consider starting from a template instead of building one from scratch
