One explains your payslip

Understand your payslip components, including deductions, taxes, and benefits, to better manage your income and finances.

Payslips can include many payroll concepts that are difficult to understand, especially when terminology and formats vary between countries. With One, you can get clear explanations of your payslip directly from the document you are viewing, without having to contact HR for every question.

Important: For now, One only uses the information available in the payslip you are viewing. It does not retrieve or use additional data from Factorial to generate its explanations.

Overview

One can help you understand the information included in your payslip directly from the Payslips folder.

You can use One to:

  • Explain the entire payslip: One reviews the payslip and explains the concepts included in it.
  • Explain a single concept: Select a specific line on the payslip and ask One to explain it.

This can help you understand concepts such as gross and net pay, tax withholding, social security contributions, deductions, prorated amounts, bonuses, and benefits in kind.

When and why it should be used

Use One when you want to better understand a concept or amount shown on your payslip. For example, you can use it if you want to understand:

  • Why your gross and net pay are different
  • What a tax withholding means
  • What a social security contribution is
  • Why a particular deduction appears on your payslip
  • What a prorated amount means
  • What a bonus or benefit in kind represents

How to use

Explain your entire payslip

  1. In your sidebar, go to My documents
  2. Go to the Payslip folder
  3. Open the payslip you want to understand
  4. In the upper right corner, select Explain my payslip
  5. One will review the information shown on the payslip and provide an explanation of its contents
  6. Review the explanation to better understand the different concepts included in your payslip

Explain a single concept

  1. Open the payslip you want to understand
  2. Find the concept or line you want to know more about

  5. One will provide a focused explanation of the selected concept

If One does not explain a concept you selected, make sure you have selected a specific line or concept on the payslip PDF. If the option is still unavailable, the feature may not support that part of the document yet.

One's explanation is based only on the information contained in the payslip. If you need information that is not included in the document, contact your HR or payroll team.

Tips and best practices

  • Start with the full explanation: If you're unfamiliar with your payslip, ask One to explain the entire document first.
  • Ask about individual concepts: If you only need clarification about one amount or line, select that line and use Explain.
  • Check the original payslip: One's explanations are based on the information contained in the payslip, so always refer to the original document for the exact amounts and details.
  • Contact HR or payroll for personal questions: One explains the concepts shown in the document but does not access additional Factorial data to investigate individual payroll situations.
