Extra time rounding automatically adjusts an employee's calculated extra hours to the nearest configured minute interval using a selectable rounding method. This ensures extra hours are clean, consistent values that integrate smoothly with compensation flows.
How it works
Rounding is applied after extra hours are fully calculated, not at clock-in or clock-out. The raw value and the rounding delta are always shown separately so you can reconcile both figures at any time.
Enable extra time rounding
Admins configure extra time rounding inside a time tracking policy. Follow these steps:
- Go to Settings → Time tracking → select your policy.
- Click on the Preferences tab
- Scroll to the Time tracking tolerance section and locate Extra time rounding
- Toggle Extra time rounding on — the toggle turns teal when active
- Select your preferred Rounding method and Rounding interval from the dropdown
- Save your changes
Tip: Extra time rounding only affects hours transferred from the buffer to the balance. It does not retroactively modify already-transferred extra hours.

Viewing rounding in the timesheet
Employees and managers can see the effect of rounding directly in the timesheet counter.
- Go to My time tracking (or a specific employee's timesheet in the admin view)
- In the Extra hours counter at the top of the page, hover over or click the counter to expand the tooltip
- The tooltip shows a breakdown with three rows: Planned hours, Worked hours, and Extra time rounding
Visible across all surfaces: The rounded extra hours figure is consistently shown in the timesheet counter, the collection view, and all side panels — so employees and managers always see the same number.

Viewing rounding in the balance breakdown
The full rounding breakdown is available in the timesheet balance panel, where raw and rounded values are always reconcilable.
- In the timesheet, click the arrow icon on the Balance card to open the balance breakdown panel
- Scroll to the Extra hours section
- You will see three line items: Raw extra hours, Rounding adjustment, and the total Extra hours
The Rounding adjustment line can be positive (rounded up) or negative (rounded down). Together with Raw extra hours, it always adds up to the final Extra hours value shown in counters.

Exporting extra time rounding data
Rounding data is included in timesheet exports so you can audit and process it in external tools.
- In the time tracking view, click the download icon in the top-right corner
- Select your export format and date range, then confirm
- Open the exported file and locate the Extra time rounding column — it appears alongside the existing Extra hours column
