Navigate employee profiles using your current filters

Learn how to efficiently explore employee profiles while applying your current filters for better insights and streamlined navigation.

Table of Contents

When reviewing employee information, it's often helpful to move through a specific group of employees rather than the entire company directory. Employee profile navigation now respects the filters, sorting, and search criteria applied in the employee list, making it easier to review relevant employees without losing context.

Overview

Employee profile navigation is linked to the employee list view you are working from. When you apply filters, sorting options, or search criteria in the employee directory and open an employee profile, the navigation controls continue to follow that same filtered list.

This means:

  • Previous and next navigation remains within the filtered employee list.
  • The employee counter displays the correct position and total number of matching employees.
  • The employee selector in the breadcrumb menu only shows employees that match the current filters.
  • Filters can be updated directly from the employee selector, and navigation updates automatically.
  • The experience remains consistent even when accessing employee profiles through direct links or after refreshing the page.

When and why it should be used

Use this functionality when:

  • Reviewing employees from a specific team, office, location, or department
  • Working with filtered employee lists during audits or HR processes
  • Navigating search results without returning to the employee directory
  • Comparing employee records within a specific group

This helps maintain context and reduces the time spent searching for employees within large organisations.

How to use

  1. Apply any filters, sorting options or search criteria to an employees' list
  2. Open an employee profile from the filtered results
  3. Use the Previous and Next arrows in the profile header to move through employees
  4. Check the position counter to see the employee's position within the filtered list
  5. Open the employee selector in the breadcrumb navigation to view all employees included in the current results
  6. Update filters directly from the selector if needed.
    • The employee list, navigation arrows, and counter will update automatically

If navigation shows fewer employees than expected, verify that the active filters and search criteria match the employees you want to review. Navigation only includes employees that meet the current conditions.

If an employee does not appear in the selector, check whether any active filters or search terms are excluding that employee from the results.

If the counter seems different from the total number of employees in the company, it is because the counter only reflects employees included in the current filtered list, not the entire employee directory.

Tips and best practices

  • Apply filters before opening an employee profile to keep navigation focused on the relevant group
  • Use sorting options to review employees in a specific order, such as alphabetical order or start date
  • If you need to refine your search while reviewing profiles, update the filters from the employee selector without returning to the employee directory

FAQ

  1. Do filters remain active when I open an employee profile?
Yes. The profile navigation uses the same filters, sorting, and search criteria applied in the employee list.

  2. Can I navigate through all employees from the profile page?
Navigation follows the current filtered list. To review a different group of employees, update or remove the active filters.

  3. What happens if I open an employee profile through a direct link?
The system automatically identifies the employee within the relevant filtered list and enables navigation accordingly.

  4. Can I change filters without returning to the employee directory?
Yes. You can update filters directly from the employee selector in the breadcrumb navigation.
