Review templates let you start a performance review with questions and settings already in place. Factorial includes three predefined templates (Performance Review - 360º, Performance Review - 180º and Probation period), and you can save any review as a custom template for your company.
Before you start
- You need the Reviews > Create reviews permission to see Templates, use a template, save a review as a template or duplicate a template.
- Only the template's owner, or people with Review Process Full Visibility, can edit or delete a custom template.
Predefined templates
| Template | Review types | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Performance Review - 360º | Self review, Manager, Peer, Direct report | Job performance, communication and collaboration, professional growth; leadership, support, development and team culture for the direct report review |
| Performance Review - 180º | Self review, Manager | Start / Continue / Stop questions on job performance and on communication and collaboration |
| Probation period | Manager | Job skills and collaboration, adaptability and cultural fit, and a recommendation question (Yes, No, Undecided) |

Rules and behavior
- If you create a review from a template, then later changes to the template don't affect that review, and changes to the review don't affect the template.
- If you duplicate a predefined template, then the copy is a custom template you can edit, named "<template name> - Copy".
- If you replace yourself as owner of a custom template and you aren't an admin, then you lose access to edit or view that template.
- If you delete a custom template, then the deletion can't be undone. Reviews created from it are not affected.
Limitations
- You can't edit a predefined template directly. Duplicate it first.
- You can't share a template with another Factorial company.
- You can't create a blank template from the Templates page. Save a review as a template, or duplicate an existing template.
Troubleshooting
- Symptom: "I don't see Templates in Performance > Reviews." → Cause: you don't have Create reviews. → Fix: ask an admin for the permission.
- Symptom: "I can't edit a custom template a colleague created." → Cause: only the template's owner or people with Review Process Full Visibility can edit it. → Fix: ask the owner to replace the owner with you, or duplicate the template.
