When you fill in a performance review, the text editor of open answers and rating comments has an Enhance menu (an AI writing assistant) and a dictation button. Enhance rewrites the text you wrote, for example to make it more formal or fix the grammar, and you decide whether to keep the result. Your answer is only saved as an evaluation answer when you accept it and submit the evaluation.
Before you start
- You need the Use One permission. People without One don't see Enhance or dictation.
- Enhance works on text you already wrote. Write a first draft before using it.
- It's available in text answers and in the comment of rating questions, for every type of reviewer: self, manager, peer and direct report.
Steps
Improve an answer with Enhance
- Go to Performance > Reviews and open the evaluation you need to fill in.
- Write your answer in a text question, or in the comment of a rating question.
- Select Enhance in the editor.
- Choose an option:

- Review the result.
- Select Accept to keep it, Reject to go back to your text, or Repeat to try again.
- Submit the evaluation as usual.
Dictate an answer
- Open the evaluation and click in a text answer.
- Select the dictation (microphone) button in the editor.
- Speak your answer, then stop dictation.
- Edit the text if needed, and use Enhance to polish it.
Rules and behavior
- If you select Reject, then your original text stays exactly as it was.
- If you select Accept, then the rewritten text replaces your text in the editor. It's saved with the evaluation like any other answer.
- If Enhance fails, then you see "An error occurred while loading" and can select Continue editing.
- If you don't have Use One, then the editor has no Enhance menu and no dictation.
- Enhance only uses the text in that editor. It doesn't read other answers, scores or previous reviews.
Limitations
- Enhance can't write an answer from scratch. It only rewrites your text.
- Enhance isn't available in the Give feedback form.
- Reviewers and admins can't see whether an answer was rewritten with Enhance.
Troubleshooting
- Symptom: "I don't see Enhance." → Cause: You don't have Use One. → Fix: Ask an admin to check Settings > Permissions > One.
- Symptom: "An error occurred while loading." → Cause: The AI request didn't complete. → Fix: Select Continue editing and try again with Repeat or a new option.
- Symptom: "The translation changed the meaning." → Cause: Automatic rewriting can change nuance. → Fix: Select Reject and edit the text yourself.
FAQ
1. Will my manager know I used AI?
No. The submitted answer doesn't show whether Enhance was used.
2. Does Enhance change my answer automatically?
No. Nothing changes until you select Accept.
3. Can I use Enhance on my manager review of my team?
Yes. It works for any reviewer filling in an evaluation.
