Why the Factorial x DATEV Integration?

Why the Factorial x DATEV Integration?

Simplify your company's payroll management by connecting your Factorial account with DATEV LODAS or DATEV Lohn und Gehalt.

The integration between DATEV and Factorial lets you easily sync data such as new hires, terminations, changes to personal data, contract changes, absences, and payroll variables, without having to enter the same data twice in both systems.

What is DATEV?

DATEV is a registered German cooperative (eG) that acts as a software company and IT service provider for tax advisors, auditors, lawyers, and their clients. With its payroll programs DATEV LODAS and DATEV Lohn und Gehalt, it is the market leader for small and medium-sized businesses in Germany. One of its distinguishing features is its integration with the German tax authorities and health insurance funds, which ensures payroll compliance.

DATEV LODAS and DATEV Lohn und Gehalt are DATEV's two payroll programs, and a client cannot use both at the same time. Both programs are connected to the relevant tax authorities and health insurance funds, so information such as the electronic income tax deduction data (ELStAM) and social security notifications (DEÜV) is retrieved or submitted automatically instead of having to be maintained manually.

The Lohnaustauschdatenservice (Payroll Data Exchange Service)

The Lohnaustauschdatenservice (LAUDS) is DATEV's technical interface used for the automatic exchange of master data, transactional data, and absence periods between an HR system and DATEV LODAS or Lohn und Gehalt.

Even after a successful setup, data transfer deliberately does not run automatically in the background, it must be triggered manually. This preserves the four-eyes principle: before every transfer, a payroll expert reviews the data once more to make sure it is correct and complete. Rather than passing data along unchecked, you keep full control over what actually reaches payroll.

Transactional data and absence periods can be corrected and resent at any time within a payroll cycle, no manual follow-up in DATEV is needed for that. Master-data updates work differently: once successfully transferred, they generally can no longer be automatically reversed and must be adjusted manually if needed. This makes sign-off from the payroll team before sending all the more important.
