ONE is the AI assistant that powers every agent in Factorial IT. Use this page to see the three ways to work with it and what feeds it, then jump to the article you need.
Feature/Functionality
Overview
There are three ways to put ONE to work:
- ONE (the chat). A context-aware assistant you open from any page. It helps you look things up, understand them and act on them across the console.
- Built-in agents. Agents that come ready with Factorial IT, each for a defined job. Each has its own place to switch it on and its own setup article.
- Custom agents. Agents you build for jobs specific to your team. You decide what triggers them, write their instructions, give them knowledge and connectors, and follow each run.
What gives agents context and reach
- Knowledge base items. The policies and procedures that ONE and every agent follow.
- Connectors. They let ONE and your agents use tools that live outside Factorial IT, through MCP servers (a standard way for AI to call external tools).
Your data at a glance
AI dashboards are views on the Dashboard page. Factorial IT builds them from your company's data and keeps them current.
How to use
- To ask a question or run a quick task, open the ONE chat from any page. See ONE.
- To hand a recurring job to an agent that already exists, switch on the matching built-in agent. See Built-in agents.
- To automate a job no built-in agent covers, build a custom agent, or start from a template. See Custom agents and Agent templates.
- Before relying on any agent, publish the knowledge base items it should follow and connect the tools it needs.
Tips and Best Practices
- Start with the chat. Ask ONE first. If you keep asking the same thing, that job is a candidate for an agent.
- Prefer a built-in agent when one fits. It already has a defined job and a setup guide.
- Write your policies down before switching agents on. Agents follow your knowledge base items, so gaps there become gaps in their behaviour.
- Connect only the tools a job needs. Fewer connectors means fewer places an agent can act.
Troubleshooting and FAQ
Troubleshooting
- An agent ignores one of your rules. Check that the rule is in a knowledge base item and that the item is published.
- An agent cannot reach an outside tool. Check that the tool's connector is set up and switched on.
