Clock breaks and configure workplace and work area with Employee ID

Learn how to address clock malfunctions and optimize workplace setup using Employee IDs for better organization and efficiency.

With the Employee ID app, employees using shared devices can track breaks and include workplace and work area information in their time records. Users with the appropriate permissions can also configure the workplace and work area directly on each tablet, without needing to reconfigure the device after a browser refresh.

Overview

Employee ID is designed for employees who clock in and out using a shared device, such as a tablet.

With this update, employees can:

  • Clock breaks directly from the Employee ID app.
  • Select a break type when multiple break types are available.
  • Track their Workplace and work area when these options are configured.
  • See the current time directly on the Employee ID home screen.
  • Enter their Employee ID privately, as the input field is automatically masked.

Each tablet can also have its own Workplace and work area configuration.

How to use

Clock a break

  1. Enter your Employee ID on the shared device
  2. Select the option to start or clock your break
    • If multiple break types are available, select the appropriate break type.
  3. Confirm the action
  4. The break is recorded according to the company's time tracking policy

Break types available in Employee ID depend on the company's time tracking policy. If multiple break types are configured, employees can select the appropriate type when clocking a break.

Configure the Workplace and work area

  1. Open the Employee ID app on the device
  2. Go to the device configuration settings
  3. Enter your admin ID for the admin verification
  4. Select the Workplace for the device
  5. Select the work area, if applicable
  6. Confirm your selection

Once configured, the Workplace and work area are associated with the tablet. The configuration remains after a browser refresh, so the tablet does not need to be configured again.

Tips and best practices

  • Configure the Workplace and work area on each tablet before employees start using it
  • Make sure the selected Workplace and work area match the physical location of the shared device
  • If your time tracking policy includes multiple break types, make sure employees know which break type to select
  • Employee IDs are automatically masked while being entered, helping keep employees' IDs private from people nearby
  • The current time is always visible on the Employee ID home screen, making it easier for employees to check the time before clocking in or starting a break
  • Browser refreshes no longer require the tablet to be configured again
