Do it with One: "Show me the manager insights for our finished reviews"
AI Insights summarise each reviewee's published evaluations (also called an AI review summary): a performance summary, how aligned the reviewers are, strengths, areas to improve and a suggested action plan. Team insights combine the AI Insights of a manager's whole team into one AI Summary with Suggested action items. Factorial generates both automatically from the review answers; nobody has to press a button, and nobody can edit them.
Before you start
- AI Insights are part of performance reviews. No extra setting or AI add-on is needed.
- AI Insights use only the questions and answers of the person's published evaluations in that review.
- AI Insights appear once all the person's required evaluations are published, or when the review finishes.
- Reviews created before AI Insights existed don't have them.
Steps
See one reviewee's AI Insights
- Go to Performance > Reviews and open the review.
- Open the reviewee.
- In the Personal tab, find the cards tagged Factorial AI: Alignment and Strengths.
- Select See more to open the AI Insights panel with:
- Performance Summary and a Performance level (Low, Normal or High).
- Alignment: how much the different reviewers agree (Low, Normal or High), shown only when more than one type of reviewer answered (for example self and manager).
- Strengths and Areas to improve.
- Suggested action plan for the employee: up to 3 suggested action items.
- At the bottom, answer Was this helpful? to rate the insight.
Compare alignment across reviewees
- Open the review and go to the Insights tab of the results.
- In the participants table, check the Alignment column for each reviewee.
See your team's AI Summary (Team insights)
- Open the review and go to Results > Team insights.
- Choose a manager in the manager filter.
- Read the AI Summary, the Suggested action items, and the average Performance and Alignment for that manager's team.
- Alternatively, open a reviewee who manages people and go to the Team tab.
Export AI Insights
- Export the review results to Excel from the review.
- The export includes an Insights category (Performance summary, Performance score, Alignment summary, Alignment score, Strengths, Weaknesses, Action items) and a Team insights category (General summary, Average performance score, Average alignment score, Action items).
Rules and behavior
- If a reviewee still has pending required evaluations, then the panel shows AI Insights in progress.
- If the review finishes with some evaluations still pending, then Factorial generates AI Insights from the evaluations that were published.
- If the answers don't contain enough information, then the panel shows AI Insights unavailable.
- If a review was created before AI Insights were introduced, then the panel shows AI Insights unavailable for that review.
- If an evaluation is published again or removed, then the reviewee's AI Insights are regenerated.
- If a review is reopened, then the AI Insights of the reopened reviewees and their managers' Team insights are deleted and regenerated as evaluations are published again.
- If only one type of reviewer answered, then no Alignment is shown.
- Team insights are generated only when every person in the manager's team has AI Insights and every manager below them has Team insights.
- The average Performance and Alignment in Team insights are calculated by Factorial from the individual insights, not written by AI.
- AI Insights are written in the main language of the review questions and translated into your language when you read them.

Limitations
- You can't edit AI Insights or Team insights.
- You can't regenerate AI Insights on demand.
- You can't turn AI Insights off for one review.
- AI Insights don't use goals, feedback, 1:1s or previous reviews, only the answers in that review.
Troubleshooting
- Symptom: "AI Insights in progress" for a long time. → Cause: Some required evaluations for that person are still unpublished. → Fix: Ask reviewers to submit, or finish the review to generate insights from what was published.
- Symptom: "AI Insights unavailable". → Cause: The answers had too little information, or the review predates the feature. → Fix: Encourage written answers in future reviews.
- Symptom: "Team insights is empty for a manager." → Cause: At least one person in that team, or a manager below, doesn't have insights yet. → Fix: Check the reviewees with AI Insights in progress.
- Symptom: "There's no Alignment card." → Cause: Only one type of reviewer answered. → Fix: This is expected.
- Symptom: "I can't see the Team insights tab." → Cause: You can only see personal results in this review. → Fix: Ask the review owner for access.
